Every little bit truly adds up. But on a larger scale, and this is where I’ve seen some incredible local initiatives, communities are focusing on both “mitigation” and “adaptation.” Mitigation is all about reducing greenhouse gas emissions to slow down the warming.
This means advocating for cleaner energy policies, supporting businesses committed to sustainability, and even participating in local environmental groups.
Adaptation, on the other hand, is about preparing for the changes that are already unavoidable. This could involve restoring natural coastal barriers like mangroves and wetlands, which act as incredible natural flood defenses, or even investing in resilient infrastructure like raised buildings and seawalls.
